The New York City Department of Health estimates that approximately 70,000 people have been affected from exposure to chemicals and toxins found in the air at Ground Zero. Toxins and chemicals fround in the area include lead, asbestos, mercury and a number of other known carcinogens.

The Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act passed on December 22, 2010 - and funds the previously closed Victim Compensation Fund with another $2.5 billion. Who is Covered By the Zadroga Act?

Employees working near Ground Zero, including construction workers, clergy and local store owners, as well as residents, have also reported becoming sick due to long-term exposure of the toxins in the area.
