Are you eligible for a Social Security Disability Stimulus Check?

There has been so much bad news lately about the worsening American economy, that it is great to see some good news for SSDI recipients.  The rumors are true – if you receive Social Security benefits, you will get a one-time payment of $250.  That means about 55 million people currently benefiting from some kind of Social Security benefit will receive this one-time payout.

This “economic recovery payment” will go to all people who receive Social Security retirement benefits, Social Security survivor benefits, and Social Security disability income (SSDI).  Even better, if you were eligible for some type of Social Security benefit in November 2008, December 2008, or January 2009 the payment is tax-free with no other restrictions (just as long as you are not delinquent on other payments like federally backed student loans or taxes).

If you are wondering how you can get your hands on your $250 economic recovery payment, don’t worry – there is nothing for you to do.  The money will be sent to you automatically, the same way you receive your SS benefits.  You can expect to see the money by the first week of June.
