Brooklyn Construction Site Death Shows More Disregard for the American Construction Worker

A fatal incident on-site at a Brooklyn, NY construction project again shows what happens when employers have no regard for the health and safety of its employees. A local steel construction company, Roth Metal Works, was cited by OSHA for serous allegations of not providing adequate working conditions during a construction side job.

A Roth employee, working to connect a steal beam, fell 50 feet to his death because there was no protocol in place for stabilizing the steal beams. During an OSHA investigation, it was found that Roth Metal Works didn't live up to its responsibilities. The company will face up to $45,000 in fines and penalties but what good does that do for the loved ones of the worker?

When you go off to your job each morning, you have the right to expect a safe working environment. Construction workers especially face day to day working hazards that can prove dangerous or even fatal but these workers rely on their employers to ensure their safety. When accidents happen out of pure negligence, everyone suffers - the employee who loses their life, the family who benefited from the income, and the co-workers who had to watch the devastation.

There is no excuse for lacking in safety protocols especially when dangerous work is already the task. Construction workers are susceptible to injuries and accidents more so than most workers. Health and safety protocols should be the priority for companies employing workers for these heavy duty job tasks. Without the proper protection, what happens to the workers? To the families? Unfortunately in most cases it becomes a big mess, leaving the worker in dire straits.

Without the help of an experienced worker's compensation attorney, construction companies will continue to short-change workers, caring more about profits than protection. Don't be intimidated by your employer. If you notice something is wrong, let us know now so we can prevent more fatalities in the workplace.
