Do You Hear What I Hear?

Hearing is one of the five senses that we rely on to be safe at work and in life in general. If you have a hearing condition that was caused by genetics or if you have suffered hearing loss due to a noisy work environment, it is of the utmost importance that you seek medical assistance and get a proper diagnosis.
Not all hearing loss or hearing conditions are permanent but if they go untreated, you could be facing the possibility that you will lose your hearing for good. Permanent hearing loss means you may never be able to work again in your current career. It can also mean a lifetime of specialized treatment that is costly.
If you have been referred to an audiologist for specialized hearing treatment, don’t neglect this appointment. Early treatment of many hearing conditions allows for a solution. If you let the problem go on too long, you may not be so lucky. An ENT (ear, nose, throat) doctor is also employed to help diagnose and treat conditions of the ear.
If you suspect you have suffered hearing loss due to a loud work environment, an accident on the job, or due to lack of proper ear protection while at work, you may have the right to file a workers compensation claim. Hearing loss may also entitle you to Social Security disability payments.
Do yourself a favor and contact your family physician if you notice your hearing is not where it used to be or if you develop a ringing in your ears. After you have received medical treatment, contact our office for a free legal consultation by calling toll free at 888-799-3918 or use our online contact form for more information.
