Need Social Security Disability? Don’t forget your family!

If you find yourself filing a Social Security Disability claim, you may be worried about how much you’ll receive and if it will be enough to support your family.  What you might not realize if you’re new to the system is that your family may also be eligible for benefits because of your illness or injury claim.

Benefits are available for dependent children, your spouse, your ex-spouse, and your disabled children.  There are conditions and limitations that each family member must meet in order to receive benefits, and you can find a summary of this information in our law library article “Family Benefits for Social Security Disability”.  Of course information is always available on the Social Security Administration Disability website.

Additional information that may be helpful for your Social Security Disability claim, you can find more information in our law library.  Articles like “Top 7 Tips for Social Security Disability Claims”, “How Social Security Makes Eligibility Determinations”, “My Social Security Claim Was Denied. Now What?”, and more will give you helpful basic information about the disability claims process.
