New York Return to Work Programs

New York’s Rehabilitation Bureau has created Return to Work Programs to provide assistance to injured workers receiving workers’ compensation benefits.  The program consists of rehabilitation counselors and social workers that will help you with a variety of issues.  Their goal is to help injured workers return to work.

Through the Return to Work Programs, you can receive assistance with improving your physical capacity to help you get back to work.  If you are in need of vocational rehabilitation services, counselors will work on organizing insurers, providers, medical professionals, lawyers, employers and other parties to ensure you receive the necessary services and treatment.  This agency will communicate with your employers regarding job accommodations and modifications.  They will help you receive orthotic and prosthetic devices, equipment, home and vehicle modifications, attendant care or money to pay for vocation services.

Rehabilitation counselors frequently act as liaisons to monitor private rehabilitation programs and will even coordinate vocational rehabilitation for out-of-state injured workers.  If you are unfamiliar with your rights as an injured worker in New York, they will be able to explain the New York Workers’ Compensation process, including your rights under the law.

If you have been injured on the job, you may be able to receive workers’ compensation benefits while you recover.  In New York, employers are required to carry workers’ compensation coverage to protect injured workers.  Sometimes, even if you have a legitimate injury and cannot work, your claim for workers’ compensation may be denied.  In that case, you should talk with an experienced New York workers’ compensation attorney who will work hard on your behalf to get you the benefits you deserve.  Contact Markhoff & Mittman, P.C. to review your workers’ compensation case at (866) 205-2415 or (914) 946-1452.
