Normal Work Can Cause Chronic Knee Pain

Our knees allow us to do a lot of things and remain flexible in our motions. Without our knees we would have a lot of difficulties sitting, standing, or kneeling. While our knees can withstand a lot, over time due to age and injury the cartilage begins to wear down and problems can begin. Many knee problems like arthritis and cartilage can bring on a lot of pain and swelling making it difficult to work or do any normal activities. Chronic knee pain can be difficult to manage and may end up requiring surgery. More importantly knee pain can put you out of work.

Knee pain can also be the result of injury. Workers involved in a lot of standing or heavy lifting in any industry are at risk for wrong moves that can jolt the knee and tear the cartilage. In some work-related injury cases, knee pain can grow over time after an injury. As soon as the pain becomes apparent, you should get yourself a prompt medical diagnosis. Likely an x-ray or MRI will be ordered to know what occurred.

Even if you do not work in a strenuous job, you can still develop chronic pain over time. Workers that must stand or walk on hard, concrete floors can eventually feel the effects in their knee especially as they get older and their knee cartilage starts to degenerate.

If you have started to feel knee pain while work but do not recall injuring your knee, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. If you have injured your knee during work hours, it is important to protect your rights to possible workers compensation by contacting an experienced attorney.
