Shoulder Injuries May Put You Out of Work for Long Haul

An interesting thing about damaging your rotator cuff is that when the injuries are minor, you may actually not be able to heal the damage as effectively like when the injuries are severe. Medical treatment of small tears in the rotator cuff is not always an option which means you stand a good chance of getting hurt on the job again and again.

Because shoulder injuries are common in some trades especially construction, carpentry, and as a machinist where repetitive motions are often part of the day to day tasks, it is important to pay attention to the pain or weakness when you first experience a sign of rotator cuff damage. Without prompt and proper diagnosis, you run the risk of reinjuring your shoulder and permanently putting yourself out of work for good.

Treatments for shoulder injuries may be effective at eliminating some of the pain and weakness in the shoulder injury but not being able to continue in your job position can have a huge impact on your ability to earn income, especially in specialized trades. You don't have much of a future as a carpenter if you can no longer swing a hammer due to limited range of motion. Shoulder injuries often require surgery to repair damaged muscles. Surgery will put you out of work for a period of time but may give you the option of being able to return to work and the tasks at hand.

Shoulder injuries also are common results of employer neglect, specifically when safety measures are not being implemented and employees slip and fall. Reactionary injuries often affect the shoulder area as people try to prevent their fall and end up being hurt worse.

If you have suffered an injury to your rotator cuff due to the negligence of your employer or other coworker, it is important to have your case evaluated by a workers compensation expert.
