Do workers' compensation laws apply if an employee is injured while working in his/her own home and using his/her own equipment?

A: Very possibly, if the employee is injured while acting in the course and scope of his/her employment.  Here is just one example...an employee had a home office in her basement, went upstairs to get a drink while talking on the phone with her supervisor and and was injured as she fell on the way back down to her office.  The court ruled in the workers favor stating that the employee injured herself in the course and scope of her employment because she was engage in furthering the employer's business at the time that she was injured.
