Can I File a Claim Under the Zadroga 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund?

The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 was signed by President Obama on January 2, 2011. The Act is named after a NYPD Detective, James Zadroga, who died from toxic dust inhalation from working at Ground Zero. The Act is designed to use federal funds to provide healthcare and compensation to individuals exposed to Ground Zero who become sick or die as a result.

There is $4.3 billion in funds available for healthcare and compensation benefits to eligible workers and volunteers of the 9/11 attacks. The money is divided with $1.5 billion reserved for treatment and medical monitoring for first responders and survivers of 9/11, and $2.8 billion designated for the reopening of the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund to compensate 9/11 victims for their loss of earnings, pain and suffering and Ground Zero illnesses.

Can I File a Claim Under the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund?
