Hartsdale, New York is a part of Greenburgh, New York located in Westchester County outside of New York City. Hartsdale was first inhabited by the Weekquaeskeek tribe, and then by British settlers under the manor system. Hartsdale became the home of America's first Carvel Ice Cream Store when Tom Carvelas set up his first store in 1934. Two of the last working farms surrounding New York City are located in Hartsdale on Secor Road. Also on Secor Road is a cemetary where Malcolm X, Judy Garland of The Wizard of Oz, and Joan Crawford.
