NY Workers Compensation New Medical Treatment Guidelines - Cervical Spine

THE NY WORKERS COMPENSATION BOARD'S NEW MEDICAL TREATMENT GUIDELINES - THE CERVICAL SPINE

The NY Workers Compensation Board is in the process of adopting new Cervical Spine Treatment Guidelines that are designed to assist in the treatment (diagnosis, treatment and care) of injured workers suffering from cervical spine injuries or industrial conditions. This is premised on supposedly leveling the playing field and avoiding uncessary delays usually imposed by insurance companies insisiting on approving every step in a treatment process, something that can certainly delay the process.

All parties, particularly Medical Practitioners, must familiarize themselves with these guides. The guides cover items such as:

  • physical examination
  • laboratory testing
  • imaging (x-ray's, MRIs and other)
  • Follow-up Diagnostic Imaging and Testing Procedures

                  • Lineal Tomography
