4% Pay Raises Planned for Union Workers in NY On Hold

NYS workers are being hit because a new budget is not in place.  Were you looking forward to the 4% salary increase planned for NYunion workers?  You'll have to wait!  Gov. Paterson is submitting another extension for the budget which does NOT include this 4% increase.  According to reports, this increase is just on hold - the raises are NOT being cancelled.

It's estimated that the raises will cost NY $433 milllion over the next year.  In an effort to help NY manage it's nine million dollar plus budget defict, Paterson has asked worker unions to forgo the raises but they have refused.  Schools and construction projects have seen payments withheld; union workers wil not!  Paterson and state lawmakers do have thier paychecks held once the budget is late, as is the case this year.
