All Who Worked at Ground Zero Urged to Register for Benefits

Posted on Jul 29, 2010

Did you or anyone you know take part in the rescue, recovery, or clean-up efforts at the World Trade Center site?  There is a deadline approaching September 11, 2010, and the New York State Workers’ Comp Board wants these workers to register their service to secure their future rights to workers’ comp benefits.

If you or someone you know worked at any of these sites between 9/11/01 and 9/12/02, please sign up:

  • The WTC site from Hudson River and Canal Street, east on Canal Street to Pike Street, south on Pike Street to the East River, and down to the lower tip of Manhattan.
  • On a barge between the west side of Manhattan and the Fresh Kills Landfill
  • At the Fresh Kills Landfill
  • At the New York City Morgue or in any of the temporary morgues on the West Side Piers

What does it take to register with the board?

All you have to do to register is fill out an eight-question form (the WTC-12 form).  It’s that easy.  The board estimates that about 60,000 people worked at one of the above sites during the aforementioned time period – that is a lot of people who deserve benefits.

Don’t let the New York workers’ compensation benefits you deserve slip away – register today.
