Alleged Safety Violations Mean Potential NY Worker Injuries

Posted on Oct 26, 2011

A former construction company employee has reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) this week that a Spring Valley construction site may be unsafe for workers. An OSHA compliance officer visited the site on Tuesday, according to the OSHA assistant area director for the Tarrytown office.

The construction site at 94 North Main Street is the beginning of a development called Spring Valley Family Housing, which will eventually contain 54 apartments and 7000 feet of commercial space. The former employee's complaint alleged that the construction site had many safety violations, including problems with personal protective equipment, floor openings, mold in the basement, and other workplace hazards. OSHA has not yet determined if Sisca Northeast, Inc. was actually in violation.

A project manager with Sisca Northeast did report that some minor violations were fixed at the time of the inspection and that no mold had been found in the basement.
