The 2009 Retirement Confidence Survey, conducted by the Employee Benefit Reasearch Institute (EBRI) found that only 25% of retirees are very confident of their ability to pay for medical expenses in their retirement years as compared to 36% last year. This is the lowest level ever recorded; the survey has been conducted for 19 years. Some of the fears may be well founded as reports inidicate Medicare could be facing insolvency in less than ten years. Congress and the Obama administration are currently working on critical reforms with the intent of making health care more affordable for all Americans.
