Workplace deaths dropped significantly around the country last year, but rose in New York City. While there was a 20% drop nationally, construction accidents were the leading cause of death in local fatalities. Violence is another leading cause of death for city workers. In New York, workplace violence is also a concern, often taking the lives of bodega employees and cab drivers.
