Construction Worker Killed in Accident On the Job

Posted on May 05, 2010

An unfortunate accident kills construction worker, Brandon Acker, on the job early Monday.  Acker was installing a basement underneath a Buffalo home when a section of the earth bank collapsed, pinning him underneath the dirt.  His co-workers tried to rescue him - while they were successful in pulling him out, it was too late.  He was rushed to Erie County Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Adminstration) is investigating the construction accident along with the Erie County Sheriff's Office.  While it certainly is no consolation, families of those injured on the job are eligible for workers' compensation death benefits.
