Sandy Tabin, of Kingston, was injured on a Croton worksite when he was struck by a train. The incident occurred at the Croton-Harmon rail yards at 5:45 p.m. on June 1, 2011. Tabin, 55, is a train mechanic for Metro-North in Westchester County.
Apparently, Tabin was helping with a maintenance operation at the time of the accident. The operation involved workers replacing the engine on a six-car train. During the engine swap, Tabin was hit while removing the blue light that signals a rail is out of service. Although the train was reportedly moving slowly, Tabin was struck by the train and partially run over while standing on the tracks.
Three of the other workers will be questioned about the incident, according to authorities.
Tabin suffered severe injuries, including broken ribs and internal injuries. He was transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He is a 31-year veteran of the railroad.
The New York workers' compensation lawyers with Markhoff & Mittman, PC extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Tabin.
