

As reported in The Buffalo News, Timothy Carson of Niagara Falls, New York, accepted a $1.75 million insurance settlement for an on the job injury which took place almost three years ago. Carson suffered severe neck and shoulder injuries when scaffolding collapsed during the construction of a wing of Niagara Street Elementary School. The cash settlement will be paid by the contractor that employed Carson at the time of his accident.
Carson, who hasn't worked since the accident, requires daily pain medication and has been told by doctors he is unlikely to be able to return to his work as a carpenter. Employees hurt on the job in New York are eligible for workers compensation benefits.
