Today's New York Times, reporters N.R. Kleinfield and Steven Greenhouse began the first of a series of three indepth articles about New York States Workers Compensation System.

As noted injured workers "come to the board seeking authorization for medical treatment and replacement wages - in short, a quick and fair resolution from a system set up to replace fractious court fights between employers and employees."

But instead injured workers end up in a system that could take years to resolve cases, inconsistent decisions, and endless struggles to obtain authorization for medical care or proper benefits.
