Long Awaited Trial for NYC Workplace Safety Tragedy

Posted on Jun 17, 2010

Workplace safety took a hit in 2008 when a 200-foot tall construction crane that had half the straps listed by the manufacturer attaching it to a building and seven people lost their lives

But it is only today that the victims, including 24 who were severely injured, have a chance to see their pain and suffering rectified in a court of law.  Rigging contractor William Rapetti is now charged with seven counts of manslaughter after the collapse left pieces of building material scattered through the East Side of Manhattan and nearby workers buried under the rubble.

Several nearby workers have dealt with extensive injuries, including John Gallego, a 33-year-old who now walks with a cane and cannot work because of the injuries he sustained in this construction accident.

One of the major problems for those affected by employers who don't excel in workplace safety issues is that the pace of the law does not always match their needs in aiding them with payments to defray the costs of medical care as well as the loss of income when they would normally be working.

This is one reason why the services of a qualified workers' compensation attorney team can help  you answer these questions.  They are one of the best sources for difficult information, like whether external events impact your ability to make a claim.

There are a number of different questions that you'll want to answer, and it could be difficult if you're in pain because of a workplace safety failure.  Knowing when you can obtain disability and other issues that you may have never thought of can be taken care of if you choose the right firm for your needs.
