New York man loses seven fingers in workplace accident

Posted on Jun 30, 2010

What is worse than being hurt on-the-job in New York?  Not just being injured, but actually losing a part of your body in the accident.

This is exactly what happened to a New York worker.  Fifty-three year old Manuel Rosario was working in an industrial plant operated by Hughes-Treitler when a machine he was working on closed before he could remove his hands.

As a result of the machine slamming shut, Rosario lost seven of his fingers.  All he has left are both of his thumbs and part of his right pinkie.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating this incident.  A spokesperson for the company did not have any further details about the incident, and would only confirm that an accident took place.  Hughes-Treitler is an aerospace company owned by Ametek, Inc. and is located in Garden City, Long Island.

After losing seven fingers it is highly likely that this individual will have no problem securing NY workers’ comp benefits.  Not all injured employees are able to get the workers’ compensation benefits that they need to get well – if you are one of them and you’re struggling to get your claim or appeal approved, give us a call and we’ll see what we can do.
