NY Passes Marriage Equality Act | Gay Marriage New York

Governor Cuomo signed into law the Marriage Equality Act - also referred to as the Gay Marriage Bill - which amends New York Domestic Relations Law to state that a marraige is otherwise valid regardless of whether the parties to the marriage are of the same or different sex.

When this law comes into force in thirty days it will affect each and every law where 'spousal' rights and benefits are involved - such as workers compensation death benefits to the surviving spouse and other legislation.
