NYC Owner Steals from Employees - Claims for Workers Comp Insurance

Posted on Feb 10, 2010

A nursing registry owner in NYC was charged with stealing $300,000 from his employees by fraudulently deducting money from their paychecks.  Rather than purchasing  workers’ compensation insurance for his employees – as irequired by law – he pocketed their money. Employees should be aware.  If you see wages deducted for workers compensation insurance contact the Workers Compensation Board immediately -- it is illegal to be charged for this insurance.

According to the charges in this case, $1 an hour was deducted from the payroll checks of approximately 221 employees.
