OSHA Fines Yonkers Company for Violating Safety and Health Standards

Posted on Apr 21, 2010

A Yonkers, NY manufacturer of custom architectural woodwork faces over $100,000 in fines by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).  OSHA officials inspected the manufacturer after a serious worker injury was reported -- an employee sustained a partial hand amputation on an unguarded radial hand saw.  It seems the blades on the saw the worker was using didn't have the required guarding to prevent such an injury.

OSHA Officials found even more as they inspected the facility including mechanical, chemical and fire hazards plus untrained forklift operators and an eating area for workers where hazardous chemicals were used.  Officials of the company, H&H Woodworking Inc, located at 25 Lake Avenue were not available to comment.

Employees must be aware of their workplace rights; all employees deserve safe workplace conditions.  If you or a loved one has experienced a workplace injury, you should seek workers' compensation.  If you have any questions or would like a FREE consultation to discuss a particular situation, feel free to contact our office - Markhoff & Mittman - at 866-205-2415.  Or, complete the contact form on our website and we'll call you at your convenience.
