Last month, a woman who worked at a Queens dry cleaners was crushed in a New York City workplace accident.
On Wednesday, February 16, thirty-two-year-old Limin Min Huang of Queens was loading towels into an industrial steamer at the An Huan Laundry Service in Jamaica. Her scarf became caught in the machine. The machine pulled the woman in, and Mrs. Huang was crushed. She was left brain dead and was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m.
Mrs. Huang had worked at the dry cleaning service for three years.
Workplace accidents of this type are not uncommon. Employees who work with heavy machinery should be trained in proper safety procedures and advised as to the proper apparel for the job. When workers are uncertain of safety procedures, deadly accidents can occur. This tragic death could have been avoided if regulations were posted advising workers to avoid loose clothing.
The New York State Worker's Compensation attorneys at Markhoff & Mittman, P.C. offer our condolences to the family of Mrs. Huang.
