Recording Artist Jay-Z Sued by NY Workers Compensation Board

The New York Workers Compensation Board has sued rapper Jay-Z for a total of $18,000. The gossip site TMZ.com reported the Brooklyn native failed to pay for workers compensation in 2009 for a total of three months. The compensation payments were to cover domestic employees that were working at his home.
Jay-Z’s team later said the artist’s insurance company paid for the missed months afterwards and eventually he was cleared of all allegations. It appears to be a case of misunderstanding as sources close to the rapper have said there never were any missed payments.
The State of New York agreed with the rapper’s declaration of no wrong-doing. The Board claims it realized there was a clerical error on their end. A spokesman for the New York State Workers Compensation Board said the matter should be resolved in a few days and the judgment will be vacated.
The Workers Compensation Board originally filed the complaint back in March.
