With unemployment still at an all time high, many New Yorkers who have lost their jobs are turning to internships to help them acquire new skills as they struggle to re-enter the workforce.  Among those Tripp Whetsell, reporter for The New York Daily News, interviewed was Beki Gibney of Williamsburg, Brooklyn who landed an internship to learn a new skill and has since been hired by the company as a part-timer.  Not all experts believe this is the way to go.  Many internships require large time commitments, which could create a burden for older people, especially those with mouths to feed and rents to pay.  To read the complete aricle, which offers pros and cons, and can help you decide if an internship makes sense for you, click here.
