Swine Flu Requires Look at Workplace Disaster Policies

An article in the April 30th ABA Journal addresses the need for an examination of workplace disaster policies.  With the epidemic becoming a national concern it’s important for organizations to have an emergency management plan to deal with disasters such as a flu epidemic. The policy should be reviewed by lawyers as well as human resources staffers.  Employers are evaluating whether or not they will provide workers compensation for employees who become ill and also  whether or not to  pay workers who have been exposed to the swine flu virus to stay home in effort to control the spread of this disease.
