As reported in The New York Times by Jason DeParle and Robert Gebeloff with millions of jobs lost and people struggling to find work, the use of food stamps is at record highs -- more than 36 million people are using them for staples like milk, bread and cheese.  The range of people struggling with basic needs; among them are single parents and married couples, the newly jobless, injured workers, the chronically poor, longtime recipients of welfare checks and workers whose reduced hours or slender wages leave pantries bare.  Read complete article.
