As reported in Today's New York Post, a new study shows that a staggering 31 percent of traffic fatalities in the Big Apple involve people on foot -- more than any other city in the nation. That translated into 317 pedestrians being killed in city traffic accidents in 2008, according to Transportation for America, a safety advocacy group. The Transportation for America study acknowledges that New York City has more people walking to work -- 6 percent of the population -- than any other area in the nation which impacts these numbers.
