In a special session today the legislature will convene to pass Leandra's Law, a law named for 11-year-old Leandra Rosado who was killed by a drunk driver. The bill would make it a felony to get behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 if there are passengers under 16 in the vehicle. As reported in the New York Daily News today, there has been one holdout in getting this passed. Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and the state Senate are all demanding passage of ths bill. Read full article.
